Visiting Central America for MTB Races is Life-Changing
Central American MTB Racing Tripsare Truly Transformational
MTB Races - Have you ever taken part in a life-altering event like Nicaragua's San Juan Howler mountain bike race? We would love to hear about them if yes. Or, perhaps you’ve visited a part of Nicaragua, after which you came away with a totally different and unique perspective on things.
MTB Races - It's incredible how transformative sports and travel can be for individuals. This is entirely in keeping with a statement recently posted by a rider on La Ruta’s website: "More than a race; a personal growth journey." MTB Races - The worlds most arduous mountain bike race that takes place in Costa Rica is very special because even a renowned biker such as Lance Armstrong says he must train there one day. November 17-20, 2010 is the 18th anniversary of La Ruta de los Conquistadores.
Of course, one is left to wonder this: Isn’t part of the enjoyment of life to be found in taking the necessary steps toward personal growth? By trying your best in whatever you attempt, or, even more difficult, remain dispassionate about the results? MTB racing definitely reveals this is every participant, sponsor, volunteer, visitor and race coordinators.
A trip to Central America can be a life changing event for those volunteering at local community outreaches. Central America also offers fun activities such as Guatemala's El Reto del Quetzal 3-day stage race or San Juan Howler's off-track MTB races. A lot of expats find it so pleasant they choose to remain.
Volunteering Changes Human Lives
Howler's main goal has always been to offer an amazing race to help an amazing cause. The object here is to raise money for two very important charities –- namely the Fundacion Tierra and the ComunidadConnect.
Comunidad Connect also has a partnership with Volunteer Resource Center students’ Alternative Break projects at the University of Colorado. The first project for a group of CU volunteers, in May 2010, was building two shower stalls, a clothes washing basin and a gutter to improve a community well in Sontule.
Life-changing Comments
- CU Volunteers make such remarkable responses as:
- This was an absolutely incredible and life-changing experience.
- Thanks to this trip, I had a greater understanding of theexisting inequalities. Including the Comunidad Connect, I was really excited to see the innovative approaches to social changes.
- I found that participating in areas such as Nicaragua isn't really so difficult after all. This journey created a lot of opportunities to participate. Once I clarify my passions, I'm heading back to Central America or South America for service work. I'm no longer scared of traveling through Central America, which is the most important thing.
- This incredible journey has definitely changed me. It is my wish to make all my travel in the future in a very sustainable manner. Believe me, I take my life much more seriously than ever before.
